Daryl
Valley
Scientist
II
Prior to his employment with AES, Daryl Valley received his undergraduate
degree in Environmental Science (with minors in geology and political
science) from Juniata College, and completed several semesters of
post-graduate education at Penn State University in the Environmental
Engineering program.
Mr. Valley's major duties include the conduction and oversight of
projects related to Phase I and Phase II ESAs; remedial and Act 2–related
investigations; regulatory compliance; and geologic, land development, and
groundwater-related investigations. Daryl’s prior experience in
the environmental field includes stints with the Pennsylvania Department of
Environmental Protection, the Susquehanna River Basin Commission, and
various wetlands-related projects in Maryland. Daryl’s professional
interests include microbiology, statistics, environmental toxicology, the
development of alternative energy technologies and strategies, and creative
approaches to site remediation and brownfields redevelopment.
Daryl and his wife Jennifer reside in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, in a
120-year old home that is typically undergoing some form of home
improvement. Outside of work Daryl enjoys, running, kayaking,
baseball, homebrewing, and playing various musical instruments.

Bridget Shadler
Scientist
II
Bridget Shadler graduated from LaSalle University in 2002 with a B.A. in
Environmental Science, with a concentration in Biology and minors in
Geology and Business Administration. Ms. Shadler is currently enrolled at
Millersville University in order to receive her B.S. in Geology.
Ms. Shadler's field experience includes soil and water sampling, the
installation of field data loggers, ground penetrating radar, EM-31,
electrical resistivity imaging, and magnetometer skills, logging data for
boring holes using spilt spoon sampling, air rotary, and Geoprobe methods.
Ms. Shadler has overseen the removal of aboveground and underground storage
tanks, and conducted Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
under the direction of our senior staff.
Ms. Shadler enjoys playing softball and spending time with her husband
and 2 dogs.
Dereck Garner
Scientist
I
Dereck
Garner is a 2006 graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a
B.S. degree in Biology. He has attended numerous training seminars and
forums since 2006 which include topics associated with hazardous waste
operations and emergency response, hazardous materials, substances, and
wastes, and alternative energy related initiatives and policies.
Mr.
Garner has valuable field experiences which include the installation of
soil gas and groundwater monitoring wells, the advancement of soil borings,
the removal and subsequent disposal of underground storage tanks (USTs),
Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), and the
segregation and disposal of hazardous materials, substances, and
wastes. Mr. Garner has overseen many environmental remediation and
disposal projects to direct and maintain compliance under the direction of
federal, state, and local authorities. Mr. Garner has obtained an extensive
technical understanding of chemical and petroleum based hazards to human
